Kota Kinabalu: Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said he was grateful to Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for appointing him as the new deputy chairman of the party's liaison committee for the state.
He said the appointment was a trust that he should honour particularly in strengthening Umno in the state which Najib described as a "fixed deposit" for Barisan Nasional (BN).
"I promise to give full cooperation to the present Sabah Umno liaison chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
"Sabah is stronghold for Umno and BN... this situation needs to be retained," said the Kota Belud Umno chief when asked to comment about his appointment.
The new list of Umno office-bearers and state liaison chiefs announced by Najib Friday also saw Musa retaining the post of Sabah liaison chairman while his former deputy, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, was made the new Kedah Umno liaison chairman.- Bernama
