Published on: Thursday, April 16, 2009

Kota Kinabalu: Double murder? Two men, believed to be foreigners, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) from serious stab wounds shortly after they were found bleeding at Bandaran Berjaya, here, Wednesday.
Police have yet to determine how the victims, whose identities have yet to be established, ended up like that or if they knew each other.
City Police Chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria, who was at the scene, said police could not determine immediately if the victims were involved in a fight with each another or with another group, adding they received a call from the public at about 4.55pm.
He urged those who have any information pertaining to the case to contact the police immediately to help in the investigations, which have been framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
It was learnt that the first victim, aged around 20, was found on the five-foot way of a restaurant, near a fast food outlet in the area, at about 4.30pm.
The second victim, also about the same age, was found about 10 feet from a bus stop adjacent to the Shangri-La Hotel.
A bus driver, who identified himself as Andy, 21, claimed he had just pulled over not far from the bus stop to wait for passengers when policemen sought his help to rush over to Bandaran Berjaya proper to pick up a seriously injured man.
He immediately drove to the spot where the first victim was and with the help of passers-by carried him into the bus.
The bus driver subsequently stopped at the bus stop to pick up the second victim before sending both to the QEH.
It was learnt that they arrived at the hospital at about 5.20pm and the second victim succumbed to his injuries first.
Hordes of police personnel immediately cordoned off the crime scene, with the forensics and K9 units also called in.
Also present were State Deputy CID Chief, ACP Ahmad Lotfi Khalid, State D9 Staff Officer, Supt Haji Khalil and City CID Chief, Ahmad Asri Jamaluddin.
